Kwara APC Women Mobilise Support for President Tinubu, AbdulRazaq

Tunde Akanbi, Ilorin

Thousands of women loyal to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara Central Senatorial District have staged a rally in Ilorin, to mobilise grassroots support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and other party candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The rally also sought support for AbdulRazaq’s senatorial ambition in Kwara Central. It featured a procession through major streets and markets in Ilorin, with participants displaying banners and singing solidarity songs in support of the APC.

Led by the Senior Special Assistant on Women Mobilisation, Monsurat Abimbola Lawal, the women began the procession at the General Hospital Roundabout before moving through Surulere, Agaka, Oja Oba Market, Gambari, Ita-adu, Kankatu, Omoda and Alore.

Speaking with journalists during the rally, Lawal said the mobilisation reflected the women’s support for AbdulRazaq and their determination to canvass votes for APC candidates across the state.

She said the governor’s record in office and the administration’s policies would feature prominently in voters’ decisions during the elections.

“We also staged the rally in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other APC candidates across the state. And we believe that Kwarans are students of history, who have felt impacts of this government in positive ways,” she said.

Lawal urged party members to maintain peace and unity while working towards the success of APC candidates in the forthcoming elections.

The Deputy Speaker of the Ilorin West Legislative Council and councillor representing Warah-Oshin/Egbejila Ward, Sherifat Balogun, called on aggrieved party members to reconcile with the APC leadership and support the party’s candidates.

Balogun described the rally as a voluntary show of solidarity intended to demonstrate the women’s support for the governor and highlight what they considered the achievements of his administration.

She urged party members to set aside their differences in the interest of the state, adding that reconciliation would strengthen the party ahead of the elections.

Also speaking, a party member from Oloje Ward, Ambassador Zakariya Muminat Jumai, commended AbdulRazaq’s administration for what she described as its commitment to gender inclusion and the participation of women and young people in governance.

Jumai said women appointed as commissioners, senior special assistants and special assistants had contributed to the administration’s activities and created opportunities for women to participate in decision-making.

She noted that the rally was organised to promote the party’s candidates and demonstrate APC women’s commitment to grassroots mobilisation.

Another participant, Falilat Saka, popularly known as Iya Eleja, said the rally also expressed support for AbdulRazaq, the APC’s Kwara North governorship candidate, Salihu Yakubu Danladi, and other party candidates.

She said women in Kwara Central and other parts of the state would continue to mobilise support for the party ahead of the 2027 elections.

The rally comes as political parties and their supporters intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections, with grassroots engagement, party unity and women’s participation expected to feature prominently in electoral campaigns.
