Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has appointed Alhaji Mashood Mustapha as the leader of the state’s official delegation for the 2027 Muslim pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia.
Details of the appointment was formally released in a statement by the Deputy Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mashood Abdulrafiu Agboola.
Popularly known as MM, the Wakili of Ilorin Emirate will serve as the Ameerul Hajj, coordinating the annual exercise alongside relevant government bodies.

According to the Governor, he brings extensive experience to the role as a seasoned entrepreneur, public servant, and chairman of the Crystal Group of Companies.
Being a graduate of Kwara State Polytechnic, Lagos State University, and the Rome Business School in Italy, Mustapha previously served as a state cabinet member and represented his constituency in the House of Representatives from 2011 to 2015.
The announcement came shortly after Vice President Kashim Shettima visited Ilorin for the turbaning ceremony of Governor AbdulRazaq as the Sardauna of Ilorin by the Emir, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari.
During the event, the Vice President appealed to local political figures to abandon bitterness, bury their differences, and work together for the progress of the state.
This official appointment marks a significant political reconciliation, as Governor AbdulRazaq and Alhaji Mustapha had previously experienced notable political differences.
