The Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Mohammed Buba Marwa, has commended security agencies for rescuing 20 prospective corps members and another abducted person in southeastern Nigeria.

Marwa praised the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services and other agencies for the successful operation.

He described the rescue as a victory for Nigeria and evidence of what coordinated, intelligence-driven security operations can achieve.

“The safe return of these young Nigerians to their families is a testament to the courage, professionalism and unity of purpose of our security agencies,” Marwa said.

He said corps members represent “the nation’s best,” serving the country with hope and idealism, adding that Nigeria owes them protection.

“Today our gallant men and women have delivered,” he said.

Marwa, a retired military officer, said security agencies deserve public recognition for successful operations carried out under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

“As a retired military officer serving under the Renewed Hope Administration of President Bola Tinubu, we must draw public attention to this kind of achievement by our security agencies and equally commend them,” he said.

The NDLEA chief also acknowledged a series of successful rescue operations across Nigeria in recent months.

He said the operations had freed other kidnapping victims and restored hope to affected families.

“Every life rescued is a triumph for our collective resolve.

“These operations show that criminals cannot outrun a determined and united security architecture,” Marwa said.

Marwa pledged continued cooperation between the NDLEA and other security agencies in tackling criminal networks.

He said drug trafficking and drug abuse often contribute to violent crime, kidnapping and banditry in Nigeria.

“Where drugs flow, insecurity thrives,” Marwa said.

He added that the NDLEA would continue working with sister agencies to dismantle networks that fund and fuel criminal activities.

The agency would also deepen intelligence-sharing and joint operations with other security bodies, he said.

Marwa urged security agencies to sustain the momentum against kidnapping and other forms of criminality.

He also called on Nigerians to support security forces by providing timely and credible information.

The NDLEA chairman wished the rescued corps members a speedy recovery and a full reunion with their families.
