By Bitrus Kozah, Abuja

A mining consortium, National Personal Assets Acquisition Scheme (NAPAAS), says it will ensure global best practice by adopting ecological, climate friendly mining and community development in Nigeria mining communities.

The Chief Operating Officer of NAPAAS in Nigeria, Mr. Eze Nnadi also said the company would invest in education, primary healthcare and vocational training to ensure residents of host communities’ benefit from its operations.

He said NAPAAS Nigeria would undertake land reclamation as part of its open-pit mining activities on environmental sustainability.

Mr. Nnadi, who made the statement on the sidelines of the 11th Nigeria Mining Week in Abuja, told Voice of Nigeria that the company is mining Gold, Coal and lithium in Enugu State, Southeast Nigeria.

The NAPAAS Chief Operating Officer also said his consortium is targeting an annual revenue of over ten billion Naira (N10 billion) in a year, with plans to export over four-hundred thousand (400,000) metric tonnes of coal by the end of the year.

The consortium commended Governor Peter Mba, saying that Enugu State was selected as the consortium’s first major destination for mining and mineral exploitation because of its mineral potential and the state government’s efforts to create an enabling environment for investors.

The Chief Operating Officer of NAPAAS in Nigeria said seventy percent (70%) of its mined resources are processed locally to promote value addition and create jobs in the country while thirty percent (30%) are being exported.

He said the consortium would leverage existing smart schools in the state, support primary healthcare facilities and train young people as excavator operators and mechanics.

The official added that the company had established a mining cooperative to encourage community participation and support its operations and partners such as SANY.

The Sales and Marketing Manager of SANY Nigeria, Mr. Jack Zeng, said his company is partnering with NAPAAS in Nigeria and other mining operators to provide equipment and technical support to expand their mining operations.

Mr. Jack Zeng said the company supplies machinery for mining, road construction, agriculture and other sectors, with warehouses in Lagos, Abuja, Kano and Port Harcourt.

Mr. Zeng disclosed that SANY Nigeria had more than 60 engineers, comprising Chinese and Nigerian personnel, to provide technical assistance and after-sales services to customers across the country.

He expressed the company’s interest in expanding its activities into southeastern Nigeria, particularly Enugu State, citing the area’s potential for coal and quarry mining.

He said the partnership was aimed at equipping mining operators with the machinery and technical support needed to expand their businesses and contribute to the growth of Nigeria’s solid minerals sector.
