Nigeria’s Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, has described the dualisation of the Akwanga–Jos–Gombe–Maiduguri Road as a landmark national infrastructure project that will strengthen national unity and improve transportation across the country.

Sulaiman-Ibrahim said the project would also stimulate economic activities, facilitate trade and commerce, and deepen the implementation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda by enhancing connectivity and unlocking development opportunities along the corridor.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony of the project in Nasarawa State, the Minister said the road represented far more than physical infrastructure.

She said; “This road would not just enable the ease of life and business, but this road is bringing us together. Here in this hall, we have people from Gombe State, from Plateau State, from Bauchi State, from from Yobe State, all have come together, and even from Meduguri, just to appreciate Mr. President’s magnanimity.”

She lauded President Tinubu for extending major infrastructure projects across the country, and praised the Minister of Works, David Umahi for driving nationwide road development.

The Minister said; “Mr. President has been doing it all over the country. At FEC, we used to support the agenda of rescoping nationwide. The nationwide project has come to our own axis. Whereever you see the Minister of Works, just call him Mr. Nationwide rescoping, because he is truly rescoping nationwide.”

Minister Sulaiman-Ibrahim noted that the administration’s reforms extend beyond infrastructure to human capital development and economic empowerment.

She said; “Mr. President is not just focusing on infrastructure. His reforms is all encompassing. He is also doing human reforms. He is also ensuring that there is even access to capital so that it can boost economic activity.”

Sulaiman-Ibrahim also reaffirmed Nasarawa State’s political support for the President ahead of the 2027 elections.

Earlier, while commissioning the dualised Akwanga Road in Nasarawa State, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Nentawe Yilwatda, who represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, said the project reflected the Renewed Hope Agenda’s commitment to delivering strategic infrastructure across the country.

Yilwatda said the Tinubu administration was investing in critical infrastructure nationwide to improve connectivity, drive economic growth and lay the foundation for a one trillion-dollar economy.

He stressed that the road projects were not limited to the North but were being implemented across all parts of the country.

He said; “the administration was constructing durable roads designed to support long-term national development, describing the investments as essential to improving productivity and facilitating economic expansion.”

The APC National Chairman also commended the Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, for complementing the Nigerian Government’s efforts through infrastructure development in the state.

On behalf of President Tinubu, Yilwatda formally commissioned the road for public use, expressing optimism that it would boost economic activities, improve transportation and enhance the livelihoods of residents

The ceremony attracted senior government officials, political leaders and stakeholders from the ruling All Progressives Congress, who described the project as a major infrastructure initiative that would improve connectivity, stimulate economic activities and advance the Nigerian Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
