Nigeria’s Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu will secure 85 per cent of the votes in the North-Central geopolitical zone in the 2027 general election.
Idris made the prediction at the North-Central Grassroots Mobilisation Network mega rally in Lafia, Nasarawa State, where political leaders and supporters declared their backing for the re-election of President Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.
The rally provided a platform for members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to highlight the administration’s achievements and pledge to intensify grassroots mobilisation across the region.

Idris described the endorsement as a collective and voluntary decision by governors, ministers and political leaders from the North-Central, expressing optimism that continued support for the administration would deliver more dividends of democracy to the region.
“We are making a collective decision by all of us, and all the governors, the ministers, all the political leaders of the North-Central. We are going to vote for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he said.
Issue-based Campaigns
The minister urged supporters of all political parties to focus on issue-based campaigns and shun violence ahead of the 2027 elections.
“The message we have is that everybody should campaign based on issues. No violence, no katakata, no fighting. If you have something to sell, you don’t need to fight,” Idris said.
He maintained that the APC had achievements to present to Nigerians and promised that the administration would do more if re-elected.
“All of us are here. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is going to get 85 per cent of the votes of the North-Central. The other ones will leave it to 15 per cent for them to share among themselves,” he added.
Also speaking, the Minister of State for Agriculture, Aliyu Abdullahi, said grassroots mobilisation would continue until election day.

“Our people are fully mobilised and will continue to do the mobilisation until the day when our votes will speak,” he said.
Abdullahi said food security had received sustained attention under Tinubu’s leadership, stating that efforts were underway to stabilise the food system and address the high cost of transporting agricultural produce.
He identified transportation costs as a major factor affecting food prices, noting that improvements to road infrastructure were expected to reduce the cost of moving produce from farms to markets.

“Sometimes you get cheap food, but to transport it becomes very expensive. And our roads are being transformed so that food can be moved at a very reduced price,” he said.
The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye, described the rally as the beginning of a broader mobilisation effort to consolidate support for Tinubu across the region and beyond.
He said the campaign would extend to other states, emphasising continuity and the need to sustain government programmes.
Similarly, the Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, said the administration’s reforms and social interventions had prioritised vulnerable groups, including women and children.

She expressed confidence in the APC’s electoral prospects, saying the 2027 elections would give Nigerians an opportunity to assess the administration’s performance.
The rally forms part of efforts by APC leaders and supporters in the North-Central to consolidate support for President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima ahead of the 2027 general election.
