NAHCON Advocates Digital Transformation in Hajj Fund Management

By Fatima Hassan

The Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Ambassador Ismail Yusuf, has called for stronger international collaboration and digital transformation to promote sustainable Hajj fund management.

The Chairman made the call while participating in the 8th International Hajj Fund Forum (IHFF) 2026, organised by Indonesia’s Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH) at the Jakarta International Convention Centre.

The forum, themed “Sustainable Hajj Fund Management Through Strategic Synergy and Digital Transformation,” brought together policymakers, Islamic finance experts and institutional leaders to discuss rising pilgrimage costs, global economic challenges and the need to preserve Hajj funds for future generations.

Speaking during a high-level panel session, Ambassador Yusuf stressed the importance of cooperation among relevant agencies and the adoption of digital solutions to strengthen the financial sustainability of Hajj operations.

He said effective Hajj fund management should go beyond financing annual pilgrimages to protecting investments and ensuring long-term benefits for pilgrims.

The NAHCON chairman also advocated investment in infrastructure within the Hajj value chain, particularly hospitality and logistics, to help reduce accommodation costs while generating sustainable returns.

The forum featured addresses by Indonesia’s Minister of Hajj and Umrah, K.H. Mochamad Irfan Yusuf, and the country’s Vice Minister of Finance, Juda Agung.

NAHCON’s participation, according to the Commission, reflects Nigeria’s efforts to strengthen international partnerships and develop technology driven financial frameworks for more transparent and sustainable Hajj administration.
