The newly inaugurated Chairperson of the Customs Officers’ Wives Association (COWA), Port and Terminal Multiservices Limited (PTML) Chapter, Mrs Nabila Miko has unveiled a three-point agenda aimed at enhancing members’ welfare, promoting empowerment and expanding community service initiatives.
Speaking during her inauguration at the PTML Area Command, Nabila said her administration would build on the achievements of previous leadership while introducing programmes that would further improve the wellbeing of members and their families.
She identified welfare, empowerment and community service as the key pillars that would drive her administration in line with the vision of the association’s national leadership.
According to her, “special attention will be given to strengthening support systems for officers’ wives, particularly during difficult times, while creating more opportunities for skills acquisition and financial independence.”
Nabila also pledged to deepen the chapter’s involvement in health, education and environmental programmes aimed at improving lives within host communities.
“I cannot do this alone. I solicit the cooperation, prayers and support of every member of COWA PTML Chapter, the Command Management and all stakeholders. Together, we will move this Chapter to greater heights,” she said.
The new Chairperson commended the National President of COWA, Mrs. Kikelomo Adeniyi, for providing leadership that has strengthened the association nationwide through impactful welfare and empowerment initiatives.
She also acknowledged the contributions of the outgoing Chairperson, Mrs. Ifeoluwa Anani, whom she credited with laying a solid foundation for the chapter through several successful programmes.
Among the initiatives highlighted were the International Women’s Day Celebration, the “COWA Healthy Wife, Wealthy Life” workshop, breast cancer awareness campaigns, end-of-year outreach programmes, the Green Border Initiative School Adoption Programme and environmental sensitisation projects.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Customs Area Controller of PTML Command, DC N.I. Miko, assured the new leadership of the Command’s full support in achieving its objectives.
He noted that COWA plays a significant role in supporting officers by promoting stability within their homes, thereby contributing to effective service delivery.
Miko commended the association’s contributions over the years and expressed confidence that the new leadership would consolidate on existing achievements.
The PTML Command boss also reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to providing the necessary support for programmes that enhance the welfare and empowerment of members.
The event attracted officers of the Command, members of COWA, invited guests who expressed optimism that the new administration would strengthen the association’s impact within and beyond the Customs community.
