The Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has thrown his weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ongoing security and socio-economic reforms, describing them as bold steps toward long-term national stability and growth.

Speaking at the All Progressives Congress National Convention in Abuja, AbdulRazaq who is the Governor of Kwara State, said the administration’s “Renewed Hope Agenda” reflects the courage to take difficult but necessary decisions aimed at repositioning the country.

He stressed that while federal policies set the tone, the real test of reform lies at the State level where national decisions directly affect citizens’ daily lives.

According to him, “State governments are increasingly aligning with federal reforms to ensure that policies translate into tangible improvements for Nigerians.”

On the economic front, the NGF chairman highlighted efforts by states to strengthen their financial independence.

Through initiatives like the State Action on Business Enabling Reforms (SABER), he said States are improving internally generated revenue, reforming land administration systems, and enhancing public financial management.

“These measures noted are critical to funding development priorities sustainably,” he said.

Agriculture and Climate Projects

AbdulRazaq also pointed to growing investments in agriculture and climate resilience, citing programmes such as the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES) and Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL).

These interventions, he explained, “are designed to boost food security while helping farmers adapt to climate challenges.”

In the area of human capital development, he said State governments are collaborating with the Nigerian government and international partners to strengthen education and healthcare systems.

“Programmes like HOPEGOV, HOPEEDU, and HOPE-HEALTH are helping states improve financing and management of basic services,” he stated.

Health Reforms

The Governor further noted that health sector reforms including the Primary Healthcare Under One Roof policy, the Basic Healthcare Provision Fund, and a multi-billion-dollar health partnership with the United States—are beginning to yield improvements in health outcomes nationwide.

Security

On security, AbdulRazaq acknowledged what he described as unprecedented federal investments and enhanced coordination under President Tinubu.

He said; “Governors are working closely with the Office of the National Security Adviser and security agencies to ensure safer communities, adding that sustainable development can only thrive in a secure environment.

“I am confident in the President’s ability to resolve these challenges” he said, emphasising that improved coordination, accountability, and strategic focus are already reshaping the country’s security architecture.

Looking ahead, the NGF chairman called for sustained unity within the ruling party and a continued focus on governance that delivers results urging leaders to prioritise fiscal discipline, expand economic opportunities, and keep human capital development at the centre of all policies.

AbdulRazaq concluded that the strength of the ruling party lies not just in electoral success, but in its ability to govern effectively and improve the lives of Nigerians, calling for renewed commitment to inclusive growth and national development.
