The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has commended security agencies for rescuing 16 corps members abducted in Kogi State while travelling from the Bayelsa State orientation camp to Abuja.
In a statement by its Director of Information and Public Relations, Caroline Embu, the NYSC said the corps members were abducted while travelling to Abuja after completing the 2026 Batch B Orientation Course.
Embu said the Scheme commended the Nigerian Armed Forces, Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services (DSS), Kogi State vigilante groups and other stakeholders for their coordinated efforts in securing the release of the corps members.

She also acknowledged the support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Office of the National Security Adviser and the Minister of Youth Development towards the rescue operation.
According to her, the NYSC appreciated the families of the affected corps members for their patience and cooperation during the incident.
The NYSC Spokesperson also commended the media for what she described as responsible reporting during the rescue operation.
Embu said all 16 corps members had been safely recovered and were in high spirits.
She added that the Scheme would continue to provide support to the corps members as they recover from the experience and review its security protocols to enhance the safety of corps members nationwide.
