Troops of Nigeria Military Operation FANSAN YAMMA have stepped up offensive operations against suspected terrorists in the Northwestern Zamfara State, killing at least two fighters and recovering weapons.
The Military said that the operation, carried out by Sector 2 in the early hours of May 4, targeted several locations identified as terrorist enclaves. These included Maikwanuga village in Talata Mafara Local Government Area, as well as Aljumma, Gidan Dawa, Magami Didi and Tungar Magaji in Maradun LGA.
According to a statement from the Media Information officer Joint Task Force, North West, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, “the troops encountered armed fighters in Tungar Magaji village and engaged them with overwhelming firepower, killing two and forcing others to flee.”

Lieutenant Colonel Danja said; “a subsequent search of the area led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle with a loaded magazine containing 30 rounds of ammunition, as well as a motorcycle.”
The military said the operation forms part of an ongoing campaign targeting hideouts within the Bagega– Sunke forest corridor, a known area of militant activity.
Operation FANSAN YAMMA reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining security in the region and called on residents to provide timely and credible information to support ongoing efforts.
