French President Emmanuel Macron hosted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a private dinner at the Élysée Palace in Paris. This meeting reflected the longstanding relationship between Nigeria and France and their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation.
The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr Bayo Onanuga, disclosed this on Friday in a post on his X handle, @aonanuga1956, saying President Macron received the Nigerian leader on Thursday night.
“French President Emmanuel Macron received President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a private dinner Thursday night at the Élysée Palace, reflecting the enduring relationship between Nigeria and France and their shared commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation,” Onanuga said.

The engagement comes as President Tinubu continues his three-week working vacation in Europe, which began on August 30, 2026, as part of his annual leave.
The President had departed Abuja for London, United Kingdom, where he spent the first part of the vacation before proceeding to France for the second phase.
President Tinubu arrived in Paris on Sunday and was received by Nigeria’s Ambassador to France, Emmanuel Ayodele Oke.
The Presidency had earlier described the three-week leave as a working vacation, with Mr Onanuga stating that President Tinubu would return to Nigeria at the end of the period
