Nigeria’s Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Dunoma Umar Ahmed, has arrived in New Delhi, India, to represent the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, at the ongoing BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting.
According to a statement issued by the spokesperson of the Ministry, Kimiebi Ebienfa, the meeting, scheduled for May 14 and 15, 2026, is taking place at the Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi and brings together foreign ministers and senior officials from BRICS member countries to deliberate on issues of economic cooperation, global governance and regional conflicts.
The high-level engagement is being chaired by India’s External Affairs Minister, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, as part of preparations for the 18th BRICS Summit expected to hold later this year.

Nigeria’s participation at the meeting underscores the country’s commitment to strengthening multilateral cooperation and deepening engagement with emerging global economic blocs on issues of mutual interest.
