Operation HADIN KAI has recorded a breakthrough in the North East following the surrender of two senior terrorist commanders, a development expected to boost ongoing intelligence-driven operations against insurgents in the region.
In a statement, the Acting Media Information Officer of Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, said the commanders, identified as Munzirs within the terrorist leadership structure, surrendered to troops of Sector 2 in Geidam on July 4 and arrived in Maiduguri on July 5.
They are currently in military custody, undergoing profiling and debriefing.
According to the military, preliminary interrogation shows the commanders held key positions within the terrorist hierarchy and possess valuable knowledge of the group’s operations, command structure and logistics network.
The statement noted that intelligence gathered from the debriefing has already provided useful information on the terrorists’ operational methods, supply channels and support systems.
This will aid efforts to locate and dismantle remaining insurgent hideouts across the Northeast.
Operation HADIN KAI described the surrender as a significant setback for the terrorist group, attributing it to sustained military pressure through coordinated land and air operations backed by enhanced intelligence efforts.
The military reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying operations and exploiting actionable intelligence until all terrorist elements are neutralised or compelled to surrender to restore lasting peace and security in the Northeast.
