Nigerian Navy Delivers Clean Water Project to Niger Community

The Nigerian Navy has commissioned a solar-powered water supply project in Muye community, Niger State, expanding access to clean and potable water for residents as part of its community development initiative.

The project, inaugurated on 8 July 2026 under the Chief of the Naval Staff’s Special Intervention Quick Impact Project, comprises a 35,000-litre elevated water storage tank, an industrial solar-powered borehole and an extensive water reticulation system.

The initiative was undertaken in honour of the Commandant of the Naval War College Nigeria, Rear Admiral Mohammed Adamu Muye, as a way of supporting his hometown in Lapai Local Government Area of north-central Nigeria while reinforcing the Nigerian Navy’s commitment to improving the welfare of host communities.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Rear Admiral Muye expressed appreciation to the Chief of the Naval Staff for providing the opportunity to facilitate a project that would deliver lasting benefits to the community.

He described the initiative as more than the provision of essential infrastructure, saying it symbolises hope, dignity and an improved quality of life for the people of Muye.

Rear Admiral Muye urged community leaders and residents to protect the facility from vandalism and establish effective maintenance mechanisms to ensure its long-term sustainability.

He said preserving the infrastructure would enable future generations to continue benefiting from reliable access to safe drinking water.
