The Nigerian Navy has disowned a recruitment notice circulating on social media announcing a purported 2026 Batch 39 recruitment exercise, describing it as fake and unauthorised.
In a statement issued on Monday by the Director of Naval Information, Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, the Navy said the notice did not originate from the service and should not be regarded as an official recruitment announcement.
The Navy urged prospective applicants and members of the public to disregard recruitment information obtained from unofficial social media accounts, websites or other unauthorised sources.
It stressed that all recruitment-related information would be released only through its approved communication channels.
According to the statement, details on eligibility requirements, application procedures, timelines and recruitment categories would be published exclusively on the Nigerian Navy’s official recruitment portal and website.
The Navy also warned members of the public against making payments to individuals, agents or unauthorised platforms in connection with recruitment.
It reiterated that the recruitment process is free of charge and that no third party has been authorised to recruit applicants or collect fees on its behalf.
Captain Folorunsho reaffirmed the Nigerian Navy’s commitment to a transparent and credible recruitment process, assuring the public that accurate and timely information would continue to be disseminated through official channels.
