President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday hosted Chadian President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno at the Presidential Villa in Abuja at 2:00 p.m. local time (WAT/1:00 p.m. GMT).
The visit comes amid sustained diplomatic engagements between Nigeria and Chad and marks President Déby Itno’s first official visit to Nigeria since President Tinubu attended his inauguration in N’Djamena on May 23, 2024.

President Déby’s visit to Abuja also highlights the importance both nations attach to collective security and regional stability, as well as their shared commitment to fostering peace and development across West Africa.
Nigeria and Chad share longstanding strategic relations, anchored on joint military efforts under the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), which has played a critical role in degrading terrorist networks operating across their borders.
