The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has achieved double global recognition at the 2026 International Public Relations Association (IPRA) Golden World Awards in Athens, Greece.
NITDA, in collaboration with Image Merchants Promotion Limited (IMPR) and the Centre for Crisis Communication (CCC), was recognised in the Artificial Intelligence in Crisis Management and Publication categories.
The awards recognise the establishment of the Crisis Communication Hub (CCHub), a national framework developed from empirical research on the application of artificial intelligence to crisis management, with support from NITDA.

The initiative seeks to strengthen crisis communication through AI-driven tools, including proactive social listening and the detection of misinformation, deepfakes and other digital threats.
It also promotes coordinated crisis response by bringing relevant stakeholders together to address communication emergencies more effectively.

The awards were formally received at the Hotel Grande Bretagne in Athens by NITDA’s Director of Cooperate Communications, Hadiza Umar alongside Professor Yau Sule of IMPR.
The recognition highlights Nigeria’s growing efforts to advance digital innovation, responsible artificial intelligence deployment, digital literacy and strategic communication.
