Nollywood Icon to Deliver PAO Keynote Address

Veteran actor, filmmaker and media entrepreneur, Richard Mofe-Damijo, popularly known as RMD, will headline the 6th International Peace Anyiam-Osigwe Nigeria Digital Content Regulation Conference as keynote speaker.

The annual conference, organised with backing from the National Film and Videos Censors Board, will take place from 18 November, 2026, to 19 November, 2026, at the MUSON Centre, Onikan, Lagos.

His selection as keynote speaker is a historic first for the event. RMD becomes the first male motion-picture practitioner to mount the podium for the keynote, after media entrepreneur Mo Abudu in 2024 and filmmaker and producer Bolanle Austen-Peters in 2025.

The Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer of the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB), Dr. Shaibu Husseini, said he was pleased that RMD accepted the invitation, noting that his career path aligns strongly with the issues the conference intends to interrogate.

“We are delighted to have Richard Mofe-Damijo deliver the keynote at this year’s PAO Nigeria Digital Content Regulation Conference. RMD represents a distinctive blend of creative excellence, entrepreneurial experience and public service. His journey across film, media, business and cultural administration offers valuable perspectives on the opportunities before Nigeria’s creative industries and the policy conversations required to sustain their growth. Indeed, RMD’s appointment marks a milestone in the conference’s history as the first male motion-picture practitioner to deliver the keynote, following Mo Abudu and Bolanle Austen-Peters,” Husseini said.

He further noted that the gathering would offer a vital avenue for industry players to consider how regulation can enable creativity rather than stifle it in a fast-changing digital landscape.

“As the boundaries between film, television and digital content continue to evolve, our challenge as regulators is to create an environment where innovation can flourish while protecting audiences, promoting responsible content and supporting the sustainable development of the industry. The theme of this year’s conference captures this responsibility. We look forward to meaningful conversations on how we can collectively build a stronger, more competitive and sustainable Nigerian screen industry,” he said.

Themed ‘Film and Content Production in the Digital Era: Balancing Regulation and Innovation’, the 2026 edition will bring together filmmakers, content creators, distributors, exhibitors, streaming platforms, policymakers, academics and other stakeholders to assess emerging prospects and challenges in digital content creation, distribution and regulation.

Activities lined up for the two-day forum will centre on content production, digital distribution, streaming, technology and the policy structures needed to reinforce Nigeria’s creative economy.

With a career spanning more than thirty years across film, television, journalism, entrepreneurship and public service, RMD has appeared in over 60 film and television projects in Nigerian and international markets.

He started out as a journalist with prominent Nigerian dailies, including The Guardian and Concord, before establishing MISTER, described in his biography as Nigeria’s first all-gloss men’s lifestyle magazine.

He is also the founder of White Water Limited, a public relations firm, and RMD Productions. In public service, he served as Special Adviser and later as Commissioner for Culture and Tourism in Delta State.

The PAO-NDCRC is a yearly forum established to foster dialogue, collaboration and knowledge sharing on evolving trends in film and digital content regulation. It celebrates the legacy of the late Peace Anyiam-Osigwe, the trailblazing filmmaker and founder of the Africa Movie Academy Awards, whose impact on African cinema continues to inspire the industry.
