The Osun State Commissioner of Police on Election, Samuel Erale Etaifo warned politicians and other electoral actors against attempting to manipulate Saturday’s governorship election, saying anyone found violating electoral laws will be arrested and made to face the consequences of their actions.
CP Etaifo gave the warning while outlining security preparations for the election, stressing that the authorities were determined to provide a level playing field for all political actors and ensure that voters freely exercise their franchise.

He said; *security agencies had been deployed to protect voters and maintain order across the state, urging political parties and their supporters to abide by the law throughout the electoral process.”
The Commissioner emphasised that the election was a federal electoral process and warned that those found engaging in electoral malpractice would be arrested and taken to Abuja for prosecution.
He said the security agencies, including the police, military and other paramilitary formations, would work together to safeguard voters and election personnel.
He also appealed to parents and guardians to allow their children and wards serving as NYSC corps members to participate in the election duties assigned to them by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
According to him, the safety of the corps members remains a priority, assuring their families that adequate measures had been put in place to protect them while they perform their national service.
Protect Every Corps Member
“I went to visit the NYSC corps members yesterday, and I reassured them. And I hope their families are watching now. Please, allow your children, your wards, to go and perform their national service with INEC, “ Etaifo stated.
“Their safety is our concern,” he said.
He said that the authorities would protect every corps member deployed for the electoral assignment.
The Commissioner’s warning comes as Osun prepares for its governorship election scheduled for Saturday, August 15, 2026. INEC has published the timetable and schedule of activities for the poll.
