Oyo State promises to prioritise Welfare of Monarchs

The Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde has said that the welfare of the people and traditional chiefs would continue to be given priority in his administration.

 

The Governor disclosed this when traditional Chiefs in the six Local Government Areas in Ibadan Less City paid him a commendation and thank you visit at his Ikolaba, Ibadan residence.

 

In a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, Makinde noted that issues pertaining to the upgrade of the Chiefs would be given consideration as soon as he received their letters from the appropriate quarters.

 

While appreciating the Chiefs from the six Local Government Areas including Akinyele, Lagelu, Egbeda, Ona Ara, Oluyole and Ido, for their continued support, Governor Makinde also solicited their support in the March 11 governorship election.

 

Earlier, the traditional Chiefs had commended Governor Seyi Makinde for approving 10 percent of local government allocations to pay their salaries and medical allowance.

 

The chairman of the Royal fathers, Chief Olasunkanmi Abioye, expressed gratitude to the governor, said that he deserved to be re-elected for a second term in office.

 

He equally lauded the governor for his speedy approval of the payment of compensation for land acquisition in their respective communities, which is expected to commence on Friday.

 

The chiefs also sought the governor’s approval for their promotion and the upgrading of their current status, in addition to the recent payment of the 10 percent increment on their allowances.
