Paris Hosts 13th NollywoodWeek Festival

Paris has opened the 13th edition of the NollywoodWeek Festival, in partnership with Nigeria’s film industry, highlighting films from Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Senegal, and the African diaspora.

The festival, held at L’Arlequin in Paris, features films exploring love, family, identity, and social issues, including Mothers of Chibok, East West Love, and Evi Superstar.

Organisers say the event reflects the growing global influence of African cinema, boosted by streaming platforms and the international rise of Afrobeats and Amapiano music.

Despite increased visibility and production quality, filmmakers say challenges remain in reaching audiences beyond Africa and sustaining industry growth.

Co-founder Serge Noukoue described the festival as a “lab for what’s coming,” aimed at reshaping global perceptions of African film.
