Temitope Mustapha, Abuja

The Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement, North Central, has signed a technical partnership with the Strengthening Peace and Resilience in Nigeria, SPRiNG, Programme to strengthen peace coordination, learning, and impact measurement across the region.

The partnership, which will run for an initial period from August 2026 to March 2027, is to support the Office’s engagement with communities, state institutions, peace actors, and development partners in promoting social cohesion and sustainable peace.

In a statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement, North Central, Dr. Abiodun Essiet, the Office said a major component of the partnership would be the development of a Peace Initiatives Coordination Dashboard to map and monitor peacebuilding actors, programmes and initiatives across the region.

According to the statement, the dashboard will improve visibility and coordination of peacebuilding interventions while helping to identify gaps, opportunities for collaboration, and areas requiring greater attention.

The partnership will also support the establishment of a Knowledge and Learning Hub as well as a Peace Impact Measurement Framework within the Office.

Under the arrangement, technical experts from SPRiNG will work with the Presidential Office to strengthen the documentation of community experiences, lessons, and innovations, while generating evidence to guide programming, policy engagement, and decision-making.

Dr Essiet said the partnership would complement the Office’s ongoing interventions in community peace structures, early warning and early response mechanisms, dialogue, and social cohesion, while strengthening its institutional capacity to coordinate and assess the impact of peacebuilding initiatives.

She said the collaboration would also deepen linkages among communities, government institutions, peace actors, and development partners, while ensuring that community experiences and indigenous knowledge remain central to peace and security interventions.

The presidential aide described the partnership as a reflection of a shared commitment to a more coordinated, evidence-driven, and sustainable approach to peacebuilding across North Central Nigeria.

The SPRiNG Programme, implemented by Tetra Tech and funded by the United Kingdom Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), works to reduce conflict and strengthen the resilience of communities in Nigeria’s North-West and North-Central regions, including their capacity to adapt to the effects of climate change.
