President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday received the Secretary-General of the Muslim World League and Chairman of the Organisation of Muslim Scholars, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Sheikh Al-Issa led a delegation on a courtesy visit to the President, accompanied by the Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Nigeria, Dr Yakubu Gambo, and the National Leader of Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Iqamatus Sunnah (JIBWIS), Sheikh Bala Lau.
The visit brought together the Nigerian leader and prominent Islamic figures as part of engagements aimed at strengthening relations and fostering dialogue among religious organisations.
Sheikh Al-Issa heads the Muslim World League, an international Islamic organisation that promotes cooperation, moderation, interfaith dialogue and peaceful coexistence among communities.
The Nigerian Government has called on citizens to rise above religious, ethnic and political differences and unite in confronting insecurity and other challenges facing the country.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, made the call in Abuja on the sidelines of the International Conference on “Diversity and Social Peace: A Partnership for a Promising Future”, organised by JIBWIS in partnership with the Muslim World League.
Idris said the diverse participation at the conference reflected the importance of collective action in strengthening national security, stability and prosperity.
The Minister also clarified that the conference was not organised by the Nigerian Government, but welcomed initiatives that promote interfaith dialogue, peaceful coexistence and national cohesion.
