President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has forwarded the names of six nominees to the Nigerian Senate for confirmation as Executive Directors of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).

According to a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr Bayo Onanuga, the nominations comprise three serving executive directors proposed for reappointment and three new nominees.

Onanuga explained that, “subject to Senate confirmation, the six nominees would serve a five-year tenure at the petroleum regulatory agency.”

The three executive directors nominated for reappointment are Mr Abiodun Adeniji, Executive Director, Finance and Accounts; Mr Ogbugo Kalu Ukoha, Executive Director, Distribution Systems, Storage and Retailing Infrastructure; and Dr Mustapha Lamorde, Executive Director, Health, Safety, Environment and Community.

The three new nominees are Mr Mobolaji Tajudeen Musa, Executive Director, Hydrocarbon Processing Plants, Installations and Transportation Infrastructure; Ms Ogechukwu Modie, Executive Director, Economic Regulations and Strategic Planning; and Mr Said Abutalib, Executive Director, Corporate Services and Administration.

President Tinubu has urged the Senate to consider the nominations expeditiously to ensure institutional continuity and strengthen the Authority’s regulatory oversight capacity.

The President has also approved the appointment of Mrs Jumoke Gafar as Secretary to the Board/Authority and Legal Adviser, subject to the completion of the statutory processes under Section 46 of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA).

In April 2026, President Tinubu nominated Engr. Rabiu Abdullahi Umar as the Authority’s Chief Executive, subject to Senate confirmation.
