A Russian attack on Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, has injured 10 people, including a child, sparked a fire and severely damaged a high-rise residential building, Ukrainian officials said.
Kyiv’s military administration initially reported that one person had been killed in the attack but later retracted the claim, saying the report was inaccurate.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko initially said nine people were injured, including six medical workers, while the city’s military administration later revised the casualty figure to 10.

Klitschko said the ninth floor of a high-rise residential building was damaged in the attack, while 15 residents were evacuated from the building in a district outside the city centre.
Video shared on unofficial Telegram channels showed a large fireball rising over the city. The channels reported that the building had been hit by a jet-powered drone, although there was no immediate official confirmation.
Local media reported further explosions across Kyiv later in the day, while an air raid alert remained in effect for more than two hours after it was issued.
Klitschko said six people had also been wounded in earlier strikes on the capital, which has endured more than a week of sustained Russian attacks.
