Senegal, China to Advance Joint Military Health Initiatives

The Chinese Navy hospital ship Ji Xiang Fang Zhou is scheduled to dock at the Port of Dakar from September 24 to October 1, 2026, to provide free medical consultations and treatments for Senegalese citizens.

Through bilateral military cooperation frameworks between Senegal and China, the mission focuses on advancing joint military health initiatives and strengthening access to specialised medical care for local communities.

According to Senegal’s Directorate of Information and Public Relations of the Armed Forces (DIRPA), clinical consultations will take place daily from September 25 through September 29, followed by scheduled medical treatments on September 30.

However, to maintain organised clinical workflows, beneficiary patients are being pre-selected through designated health facilities under the Ministry of Health, with DIRPA confirming that walk-in registrations from the general public would not be accepted during the port call.
