The Sokoto State Pilgrims Welfare Agency (PWA) has clarified that the additional slots recently allocated to the state for the 2027 Hajj are not for fresh registration or new applicants.
The Chairman of the agency, Aliyu Musa, clarified a statement issued by the agency’s Head of Information and Communications, Faruku Umar, in Sokoto.
Musa explained that the additional slots allocated by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) were specifically meant for intending pilgrims who had earlier deposited their Hajj fares but could not be registered because the available slots had been exhausted.

He stressed that the additional allocation was intended to accommodate eligible intending pilgrims who had already made payments and were previously unable to secure seats due to the limited quota.
The chairman therefore urged members of the public, particularly intending pilgrims, to disregard rumours and unverified information suggesting that the agency had commenced fresh registration for the 2027 Hajj.
He advised prospective pilgrims to rely only on official announcements from the Sokoto PWA and NAHCON for authentic information on the 2027 Hajj.
Aliyu Musa assured the public that the agency remained committed to ensuring a transparent, orderly, and credible Hajj process, while appreciating the cooperation and understanding of intending pilgrims.
