The Sokoto State pilgrims Welfare Agency has urged intending pilgrims to make an initial deposit of ₦7,696,769.67 for next year hajj pending the announcement of the final fare by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON.
The Chairman of the Agency, Aliyu Musa made the call while speaking to newsmen on preparations for the 2027 Hajj operation in Sokoto.
Musa said that “the early registration for the 2027 Hajj was to avoid last minute challenges and comply with the timeline set by the NAHCON.”
He stressed the need for intending pilgrims to comply strictly with approved registration procedures and make payments only through the official accounts of the agency.
The Chairman warned against cash payments, registration through proxies, agents or intermediaries, urging pilgrims to obtain and retain official receipts for all payments made.
He said; “the final hajj fare will be communicated to intending pilgrims after NAHCON announces the official approved fare for the 2027 pilgrimage.”
Musa said, in line with the timeline issued by the Saudi authorities and NAHCON, agreements for Mina tents, accommodation in Makkah and Madinah, transportation and catering were scheduled to open on the Masar Nusuk platform on July 29, 2026.
“Uploading of intending pilgrims’ data to the Masar Nusuk platform was scheduled to commence on August 14, while the deadline for Hajj registration was September, 26, 2026,” he said.
According to him, the deadline for concluding airlift agreements is slated for November 8, 2026.
He emphasised that the September 26 registration deadline must be strictly observed, as no registration will be accepted after the stipulated date.
The Chairman therefore advised intending pilgrims to complete their registration and payment requirements as early as possible to avoid last minute difficulties or missing the opportunity to participate in the pilgrimage.
Musa said the uniform registration timeline directed by NAHCON for State Muslim pilgrims welfare boards, agencies and commissions was aimed at ensuring effective coordination and allowing adequate time for the completion of arrangements within the deadlines set by the Saudi authorities.
He recalled that late registration had created challenges during the 2026 Hajj exercise and urged intending pilgrims to avoid waiting until the final days to register.
He said; “The documents required for registration include a valid international passport with validity extending to at least October 2027, photocopy of the National Identification Number (NIN) slip and four recent coloured passport photographs.”
Other requirements are a photocopy of the guarantor’s identity card, one passport photograph and their valid contact details.
He said intending pilgrims from Sokoto could register at the agency’s headquarters or designated Local Government Area Hajj registration centres
