Nasarawa Government to Assess Key Achievements of Administration

The Nasarawa State Government has announced plans to launch weekly media briefings and field assessment tours to highlight key achievements of Governor Abdullahi Sule’s administration as it enters its final stage.

The state Commissioner for Information, Culture, and Tourism, Nawani Aboki, disclosed this during a consultative meeting with members of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Nasarawa State Council in Lafia.

Aboki stated that the initiative aims to enhance transparency, improve access to information, and foster stronger collaboration between the state government and the press.

He said the Ministry will shift from ad-hoc communications to structured weekly press updates to keep the public and media informed on cabinet decisions and state developments.

Media correspondents will be taken on site visits across the state to verify and report on completed and ongoing infrastructure projects firsthand.”

The Commissioner solicited media support for a seamless transition to the incoming leadership following next year’s elections. urging politicians and media professionals to focus on peaceful, issue-based discourse and shun violence, insults, and misinformation.

Aboki expressed deep condolences to the families of victims involved in a recent fatal road accident, urging drivers to exercise caution and prioritise safety during campaign travels.

Responding on behalf of the journalists, the Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel, Abubakar Abdullahi, commended the state government for maintaining a healthy relationship with the press over the past seven years without recurring friction or intimidation.

Abdullahi assured the Commissioner of the Chapel’s continued support in promoting state development, while also appealing to the ministry to ensure local correspondents are properly integrated into government advertising and public relations patronage, particularly for upcoming landmark events such as the state’s 30th anniversary.
