Sokoto State Opens Procurement for School Upgrades

The Sokoto State Government has launched the bidding process for major school infrastructure projects under the AGILE Project to improve learning conditions in 100 schools across the state.

The projects include the supply of digital learning materials, solar power systems, classroom and office furniture, laboratory equipment, and materials for livelihood training programmes.

Speaking at the bid opening ceremony in Sokoto, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Prof. Ahmad Ala reaffirmed the government’s commitment to transparency and quality project delivery.

He was represented at the event by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Sanusi Binji.

Dr. Sanusi assured the 31 participating companies of a fair and transparent procurement process, stressing that all procedures would follow due process guidelines.

He said the government would prioritise quality over cost and engage only competent contractors capable of delivering projects that improve the learning environment in schools.

The permanent secretary also commended Governor Ahmed Aliyu for his support for education development and praised the AGILE Project team for progress made in school construction and the provision of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) facilities.

The State AGILE Project Coordinator, Dr. Mansur Buhari, represented by Deputy Project Coordinator Dr. Kabir Garba Gobir, urged contractors to strictly adhere to procurement rules and contractual obligations to ensure timely completion of projects.

Also speaking, the Executive Secretary of the State Agency for Mass Education, Dr. Nura Abubakar, reiterated the government’s commitment to transparency, accountability and due process throughout the exercise.

Other stakeholders, including representatives of the State Female Education Board, State Due Process Office and ANCOPSS, delivered goodwill messages, while senior government officials and education sector stakeholders attended the event.
