The Kebbi State Police Command says it has recorded significant operational successes in its ongoing campaign against banditry, terrorism, kidnapping, armed robbery, and other criminal activities across the state.
Speaking during a press briefing in Birnin Kebbi, the Commissioner of Police, Umar M. Hadejia, said the achievements were made possible through intelligence-led policing and collaboration with other security agencies, the Civilian Joint Task Force (JTF), vigilante groups, and local communities.
Among the major breakthroughs was the arrest of three suspected members of the Mamudawa/Boko Haram group on June 5 along the Illo–Lolo Road in Bagudo Local Government Area.
The suspects were allegedly travelling to procure food supplies for criminal elements and are being investigated for possible links to an attack that killed three Federal Road Safety Corps personnel in Illo on June 4.

The suspect allegedly supplied food and beverages to members of the group and assisted in transporting suspected terrorists.
Also in a separate operation on June 10, police rescued a kidnapped woman, Asmau Isah, after armed men attacked her residence in the Bayan Forestry area of Birnin Kebbi.
The attackers stole cash and mobile phones before abducting the victim. A joint security team pursued the suspects, rescued the victim unharmed, and arrested one suspect, while efforts continue to apprehend others.
The command also arrested a suspected bandit informant in Bakin Ruwa, Bagudo LGA, on June 11. During the operation, officers recovered a pump-action rifle, three live cartridges, and other items believed to be linked to criminal activities.
On the same day, police arrested a 42-year-old suspect at Makera Market and recovered a locally made pistol from his possession.
Another major success involved the recovery of a stolen Mercedes-Benz C200 through inter-state police cooperation.
The vehicle, reportedly stolen in Sokoto State, was recovered in Birnin Kebbi, and one suspect was arrested. The case has since been transferred to the Sokoto State Police Command for further investigation.
The police also disclosed the arrest of a 36-year-old security guard in Jega Local Government Area over the alleged defilement of a 10-year-old girl. The suspect remains in custody while investigations continue.
CP Hadejia said the command would sustain aggressive patrols and tactical operations across identified flashpoints to ensure the safety of residents.
He commended the contributions of the Department of State Services (DSS), vigilante groups, the Civilian JTF, and members of the public for providing valuable intelligence that has supported security operations.
The commissioner urged residents to remain vigilant and continue sharing credible information with security agencies, assuring them that all reports would be treated confidentially.
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property and maintaining peace and security throughout Kebbi State.
