The Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, has commended Nigeria’s representative at the 2026 Miss World pageant, Tamunosoye Karibi-George, for her outstanding performance and advocacy on the global stage.
Sulaiman-Ibrahim, who led the Nigerian delegation to support Karibi-George at the finals in Vietnam, said the contestant represented Nigeria with pride, purpose and a strong message of inclusion throughout the competition.
She noted that Karibi-George emerged as Miss World Africa Top Model 2026, advanced to the Top 40, and subsequently made the Top 12 globally, describing the achievement as ‘a source of pride for the country.’
“You did not simply compete, Tamunosoye. You represented,” the Minister said.
She particularly commended Karibi-George’s advocacy platform, Beyond Labels, which promotes inclusion and opportunities for children with disabilities and special needs.
“Through Beyond Labels, Tamunosoye has used her voice to champion inclusion and opportunity for children with disabilities and special needs, reminding us that every child deserves to be seen for their abilities, their dreams and their limitless potential,” she said.
The Minister said Karibi-George had demonstrated that Nigerian girls could combine ambition with compassion while remaining proud of their roots.
“You showed them that they can be graceful and purposeful. That they can be ambitious and compassionate. That they can carry where they come from with pride and still find their place anywhere in the world,” she said.
Sulaiman-Ibrahim also appreciated Nigerians who supported Karibi-George throughout the competition through votes, messages, prayers and social media engagement.
“To every Nigerian who voted for Tamunosoye, celebrated her, encouraged her, shared her story and cheered her on, thank you,” she said.
The Minister reaffirmed the commitment of the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development to creating opportunities that enable women and girls to realise their potential and contribute meaningfully to national development.
Sulaiman-Ibrahim described Karibi-George’s achievement as the beginning of a broader journey, urging her to sustain the voice and purpose that distinguished her representation of Nigeria.
“Tamunosoye, this is not the end of your story. The world has seen you. Nigeria is proud of you. And I have no doubt that there is so much more ahead. Keep your voice. Keep your purpose. Keep shining,” she added.
