The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Rivers State Command, has pledged to enhance its response to crime and strengthen security across the state.
The Commandant of the Corps in Rivers State, south-south Nigeria, Dennis Reuben, made the commitment while reflecting on the achievements of the command in his first 100 days in office.
Reuben attributed the progress recorded by the command to the grace of God and the dedication of his officers and men.
“First of all, I want to give all glory to Almighty God. He is the one that gave me the strength and ability to do what you have seen today,” he said.
The Commandant also commended his lieutenants, officers and men for their support, stressing that their collective efforts had contributed significantly to the achievements recorded by the command.
He said residents should expect “more quick response to crime, dependable allies and closer security forces,” as the command intensifies its operations across the state.
Reuben urged residents to remain calm, support security agencies and provide credible and actionable information that could assist in the fight against crime.
He described the relationship between the NSCDC and civilians in Rivers as cordial, assuring that the command would continue to maintain professionalism in its dealings with members of the public.
“We do not use our uniform to intimidate the public. We do our job with diligence, and our relationship has been very cordial,” he said.
On his plans for the command, Reuben said efforts were underway to secure a permanent site, acquire additional patrol vans and strengthen manpower development through training.
He expressed confidence that the command would record greater achievements in the coming months.
“I want to achieve and achieve. Even on the last day I am due to leave here.”
