The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Kaduna chapter has cautioned youths not to allow themselves to be used for thuggery during the forthcoming elections.

NANS made the call during a sensitisation walk in Kaduna, where it disclosed that the Association had earlier embarked on a school to school campaign, creating awareness amongst students to desist from being used as negative agents during the elections.

The Kaduna Chairman of the students union, Faith Istifanus, while speaking shortly after the sensitisation walk, urged youths to vote wisely, and as well vote candidates of their choices without being intimidated.

Also, a student representative, Abdullahi Aliyu enjoined students to come out and vote peacefully during the coming elections, reiterating on their rights to vote whom they desire.

Aliyu said election is not a war, hence their resolve on several sensitisation programmes, so that people, especially students can vote candidates of their choice that are capable of moving the nation forward.

We have seen so much in the past four years, many of our course mates have dropped out of school due to the hardship faced by many. Some even find it difficult to get transportation to schools, hence, the need for students to come out to vote whom they feel will listen to them and protect their interest for a brighter future,” Aliyu explained.

The representative of ATBU, Bauchi chapter, Ahmad Muhammad also advised youths not to sell their votes for any reason as it is detrimental to their future.
