2023: Ogun State Police urges electorates to be law abiding

As the 2023 general election draws closer, the Nigerian Police has urged the people of Ogun State to be calm and law abiding while performing their civic rights.
The Police Public Relations officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, who made the call, added that the police has enough personnel on ground, and will work with other sister security agency like the Army, Customs, Immigration and the civil Defence.
The Police spokesperson explained that apart from officers working at the polling units , other officers will also monitor the environment.
He warned the people to desist from and shun violence, saying the police has put good architectural plan for security on ground in place.
Electoral Activity
Meanwhile, Voice of Nigeria’s Correspondent reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission office in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital, south west was a beehive of activities as the commission says it is ready to conduct a free, fair and credible election.
Prior to this time, ad-hoc staff engaged by the Commission where seen receiving necessary materials to be used for the election.
INEC Presiding Officers, Supervisors, polling clerks among others were also seen around coordinating and working on strategy to be used to achieve a credible , fair and free electioneering procedures.
Although there were pocket of complaints regarding delays in sorting and allocation of materials to various Local Government Areas in the state.
However, as at this morning the INEC in the state had dispatched materials and ad-hoc personnel to the 20 Local Government Areas, who in turn are expected to mobilise these officers to their various wards and units.
Some local government areas had earlier received materials due to their proximity to the state capital.
