It was another day of gain on the Nigerian equities market on Thursday as trading closed with the all-share index appreciating 21.00 basis points or 0.04% to close at 55,822.14 points as against 55,801.14 points on Wednesday.
In the same vein, the market capitalisation rose by N12 billion to close at N30,409 trillion compared to N30,397 trillion recorded at the close of trading the previous day.
The market sentiment however closed in the negative territory as trading closed with 12 gainers relative to 19 losers.
Top on the gainers list for the day was Transcorp Nigeria with 8.66% share price appreciation and a closing price of N1.38k. It was followed by Royal Exchange with 5.63% gain and a closing price of N0.75k then Champion Breweries gained 4.6% to close at N5.00k.
Conversely, NCR Nigeria came out last with a loss of 9.93% to close at N2.63, followed by Conoil with 9.93% loss and a closing price of N42.20k after which University Press lost 9% to close at N1.82k.
The highest volume of traded shares went to Transcorp Nigeria which traded 180 million shares and was followed by Guaranty Trust Holding with 41.4 million shares.
At the end of the day’s trading, a total of 311.4 million shares valued at N3.1 billion were traded in 3,627 deals.
