UFC 286: Kamaru Usman Seeks Redemption Against Leon Edwards
Former UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman is seeking redemption when he faces the current welterweight champion Leon Edwards at UFC 286, at the O2 Arena in London on Saturday, March 18th 2023.
Usman was on a 19-win streak when he faced Edwards a UFC 278 in August 2022. Having dominated the fight, Usman was on the verge of a sixth title defence. However, Edwards powerful left high kick that found the target which sent Usman down and out, shocking the fans around the world and securing the belt.
“The kick was the only weapon he used that worked,” Usman recalled as he reflected on the moment that cost him his championship last August.
“It was just a good kick. It was something that I knew that I didn’t do a good job, or I didn’t do as well as I should have to stop it. But it was just a beautiful kick. Hat’s off to him.”

The Nigerian Nightmare will be looking to emerge victorious in one of the welterweight division’s longest standing rivalries in the main event of UFC 286.
