There was massive voter turnout in the Gubernatorial and states House of Assembly election in parts of Kwara State, especially in Ilorin West.
At most of the polling units visited, voters turned up massively ahead of the 8.30 a.m. voting time, with the presence of security personnel before the arrival of INEC officials.
A lot of people queued at various polling units located at the Idigba health Centre and Open Space Idigba, both in Ilorin West with voting currently going on smoothly.
At polling unit 036, Magaji Are II, Ilorin East, Electoral officials and security personnel arrived early, waiting for the voters to come out.
Party Agents were also on the ground to monitor the election.
The Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Mr Paul Odama and his team were seen moving around the State to make sure the exercise is orderly.
According to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, 17 political parties with the exception of the BOOT Party are contesting the elections.
1,695,927 people registered to vote in Kwara State.
Of all the 16 local government areas, Ilorin West has the highest number of registered voters with 273,635.
