As results of Saturday’s Gubernatorial and State Assembly elections begin to trickle in from across Nigeria, Director General of the Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies (MINILS), Comrade Issa Aremu, has called on those voted into various offices to use their positions to put smiles on the faces of Nigerians.
Comrade Aremu also urged the returning and incoming political office holders not to rest on their oars until they guarantee growth and development in the country.
Addressing Journalists shortly after casting his ballot in Unit 06, Alapata, in Baboko ward of Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara state, Comrade Aremu appealed to all those who emerge victorious to put the interest of Nigeria first.
“Those elected into office must guarantee growth and development. They must put an end to poverty and come up with policies and programmes that will add value to national growth and development”, he said.
Comrade Aremu described Nigeria as a country endowed with both human and natural resources and stressed that “leaders at all levels have no excuse but to convert our rich resources to people-oriented projects.”
He also commended the President-Elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for assuring all Nigerians irrespective of tribal, religious or political affiliations, that they will be treated within the principle of justice and equality.
