Democratic Alternative Party calls for cancellation of 2023 Presidential Election

With barely few days to Inauguration of a new Government in Nigeria, a Political Party known as Democratic Alternative DA has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to cancel the 2023 presidential election and organise a fresh one.

The party said it was wrongly excluded by the Independent National Electoral INEC Commission INEC from participating in the election.

At a Press briefing in Abuja, Nigeria’s Capital, the Presidential candidate of the Democratic Alternative DA Mr. Victor Okechukwu Vishnay also said that, his name and party logo were not captured in the 2023 ballot despite their performance in 2019 general elections.

“As a Presidential candidate of Democratic Alternative and as a patriotic citizen of this country Nigerian, we all love this country and today I am enjoining every well meaning Nigerian of whatever tribe and religion to join me in calling the President of this country Muhammadu Buhari to cancel the last 2023 elections and to conduct another election,” Vishnay said.

He added that, “this fight, we are not carrying any arms but everybody must sit up and realize that we need change in this country.”

According to him, INEC did not honor various court summons served them regarding the Party’s exclusion in ballot, a situation that has contributed to their non inclusion.

Mr. Vishnay said, Nigeria needs positive change and he has the intention of transforming the country through integrating diaspora in providing greater solutions to Industralization, security and energy among others.

Also speaking, National Chairman Democratic Alternative Party Mr. Frank Ukonga expressed optimism that his party would have won the election if INEC did not exclude his party from the 2023 ballots.

He said his party is considering challenging his party’s exclusion in the General Election.

“We may challenge this exclusion in court of competent jurisdiction basking on the recent supreme court judgment in favour of Youth Party, that was among the 74 polical parties illegally deregistered by INEC.” Ukonga noted.

He called on INEC to obey the supreme court judgement which relisted the 74 deregistered parties and members of Democratic Alternative Party to be law abiding.
