The Nigeria Police Force has promoted two senior officers and honoured over a hundred athletes in a ceremony underscoring its commitment to professionalism, career development, and operational excellence.
At the Zone 13 Headquarters in Ukpo, Dunukofia Local Government Area of Anambra State, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the zone, Abayomi Oladipo, decorated Nzota Chidiebere and Blessing Akuchi following their elevation to the ranks of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) and Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), respectively.
Addressing the officers during the ceremony, Oladipo described the promotions as merit-based and well-deserved.
He stressed that advancement within the Force comes with increased responsibility.
He urged the newly promoted officers to uphold the core values of professionalism, discipline, and integrity while strengthening public trust through responsive policing.
“Promotion is a call to greater service,” he said. “You must rededicate yourselves to duty, maintain the highest ethical standards, and contribute meaningfully to national security.”
The event also featured the presentation of certificates to 109 officers who excelled at the 2026 Biennial Police Games (BIPOGA) held in Asaba. Zone 13 secured fourth place overall, with a total of 109 medals comprising 43 gold, 21 silver, and 45 bronze.
Commending the athletes, Oladipo praised their performance and encouraged them to aim for even higher achievements in future competitions, noting that sporting excellence contributes to discipline, teamwork, and morale within the Force.
In separate remarks, the newly promoted officers expressed gratitude to the police leadership and the Police Service Commission for recognising their service.
They pledged renewed commitment to their duties, describing the elevation as both an honour and a challenge to do more.
The ceremony was attended by senior police officials, including the Commissioners of Police for Anambra and Enugu states, alongside colleagues, family members, and well-wishers.
The combined promotion and awards event reflects ongoing reforms within the Nigeria Police Force aimed at boosting morale, enhancing capacity, and improving service delivery across the country.
