The National Sports Commission (NSC), has praised Nigeria’s aquatics contingent after an encouraging outing at the 17th Africa Aquatics Championships in Oran, Algeria.
The continental event was held from May 5 to May 10, drawing elite swimmers and aquatic athletes across Africa. Team Nigeria finished the championships with three bronze medals and several performances that attracted continental recognition.

The commendation is contained in a statement issued on Monday by Kola Daniel, media assistant to the commission’s Director-General, Bukola Olopade.
Olapade said the achievements reflected the steady growth of aquatics sports and improved competitive standards. He praised the athletes, coaches, administrators, and federation officials for representing Nigeria with distinction.

“This performance is another strong indication that Nigerian sport is rising across several disciplines,” he said. “We are proud of the federation, athletes, coaches, and stakeholders whose efforts delivered medals and recognition in Algeria.”
“Winning medals is commendable, but recognition as a fastest-developing sport shows Nigeria’s progress.”
