NGX Group Expands Investor Education Drive Through Digital Engagement

By Salamatu Ejembi, Lagos

The Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX Group), has intensified efforts to promote financial literacy and expand retail participation in the capital market through a new digital engagement initiative targeted at young and first-time investors.

The initiative underscores the growing importance of investor education in strengthening confidence, improving market accessibility, and driving broader participation in Nigeria’s financial markets.

As part of the campaign, NGX Group hosted an X Space session titled “Follow the Fundamentals: A Beginner’s Guide to the Stock Market,” which attracted over 5,000 listeners and participants from across the country.

The interactive session focused on simplifying stock market fundamentals, explaining investor protection mechanisms, and educating participants on responsible investment practices.

It also created an avenue for direct engagement between retail investors and market stakeholders on issues relating to transparency, accessibility, and trust in the capital market.

Speaking during the session, the Head of Group Communications and Partnerships at NGX Group, Clifford Akpolo, said financial literacy remains a critical component of the Group’s long-term vision for capital market development.

According to him, empowering Nigerians with the right investment knowledge is essential for deepening market participation and creating sustainable wealth opportunities.

“At NGX Group, we believe financial literacy is not just an educational responsibility; it is a strategic imperative for strengthening investor confidence, improving market accessibility, and expanding long-term wealth creation opportunities for Nigerians.

“Through digital platforms like this, we are leveraging innovation to connect with the next generation of investors and democratise access to market knowledge,” Akpolo stated.

NGX Group noted that the initiative aligns with its broader sustainability agenda under its Community Pillar, which is focused on promoting financial inclusion and economic empowerment through educational interventions and stakeholder engagement.

Following the strong turnout recorded during the X Space session, the Group said it intends to continue similar digital engagements aimed at building investor confidence and fostering a more inclusive investment culture in Nigeria.
