By Aloysius Umalo, Makurdi

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, (SGF) Senator George Akume, has called for unity among members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the party’s presidential primaries.

The SGF assured supporters of the APC that President Bola Tinubu remains committed to a transparent and peaceful process.

Speaking during an interview with Journalists at the Makurdi domestic Airport on Friday, Senator Akume said he was in the state to mobilise support for President Tinubu ahead of the APC presidential primaries.

He stated that the president’s performance in office, patriotism, and inclusive approach to governance had earned him the confidence of party members and supporters across the country.

The SGF dismissed suggestions of serious divisions within the Benue APC, insisting that the party remained united despite concerns raised over alleged diversion of electoral materials during the just concluded exercises.

He assured party members that measures had been put in place to prevent any irregularities during the presidential primaries.

Akume noted that leaders of the APC, particularly the founding members, were determined to ensure the continued success of the party and President Tinubu’s return to office in the 2027 general election.

He urged supporters to turn out massively and participate in the primaries peacefully.

Also speaking, the Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Professor Joseph Utsev, described the disagreements within the APC as family matters that would soon be resolved through dialogue and consultations.

Utsev called on party supporters across Benue State to remain loyal and united, while encouraging them to vote massively for President Tinubu as the APC candidate for the 2027 presidential election.
