The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Adamawa State has adopted Chief Maurice Vunoboki as its governorship candidate for the 2027 general elections.
Vunoboki, said to be aligned with the Abdulrahman Mohammad-led faction of the party, received unanimous endorsement from delegates and party members drawn from the 21 local government areas of the state.
The adoption took place during the party’s congress held at Ribadu Square in Yola, the Adamawa State capital.
Chairman of the electoral committee, Mr Debo Ologunagba, who supervised the process, formally declared Vunoboki as the party’s governorship flag bearer after a motion for his adoption was moved and unanimously endorsed by party delegates.
According to Ologunagba, the exercise was conducted peacefully and in line with party procedures, with officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and party stakeholders present to monitor the process.
Earlier, the Acting Chairman of the party in the state, Mr. Belmond Dogo, disclosed that acting chairmen from the 21 local government areas, alongside key stakeholders, had earlier agreed to adopt Vunoboki as the sole candidate after a series of consultations and meetings.
He noted that the congress was convened to formally ratify and publicly announce Vunoboki’s emergence as the PDP governorship candidate for the 2027 election in Adamawa State.
