Rivers Police Tighten Security for Eid al-Adha, Children’s Day

The Rivers State Police Command South-South Nigeria, has rolled out extensive security measures across the state for  the Eid al-Adha and Children’s Day celebrations, assuring residents of a peaceful and crime-free festive season.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga A. Adepoju disclosed that the Command has intensified operational activities to safeguard lives and property before, during, and after the celebrations.

According to the Commissioner of Police, the proactive initiative is designed to guarantee a hitch-free atmosphere for residents, visitors, worshippers, commuters, and business owners across Rivers State.

As part of the renewed security strategy, the Command has activated robust operational mechanisms including intelligence-led policing, intensified confidence-building patrols, surveillance operations, stop-and-search exercises, and enhanced visibility policing in strategic and vulnerable areas.

The Police also said the deployment of tactical and conventional personnel to critical locations across the state, particularly areas expected to witness heavy human and vehicular traffic during the celebrations.

Security presence has been significantly strengthened around worship centres, markets, recreational facilities, motor parks, highways, and other public spaces to deter criminal activities and ensure public safety throughout the festive period.

CP Adepoju reassured residents that the Command remains fully committed to maintaining law and order, urging citizens to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by reporting suspicious movements or activities promptly.

He further appealed to residents to conduct themselves peacefully and remain law-abiding throughout the celebrations, Parents and guardians were particularly advised to keep close watch over their children during Children’s Day activities to prevent avoidable incidents.

Motorists were also cautioned against reckless driving and urged to comply strictly with traffic regulations to avoid accidents and ensure smooth movement across the state.

The Police Command encouraged members of the public to make use of its emergency response channels in reporting security concerns or distress situations.
