Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State has donated 1,000 Saudi Riyals, equivalent to about N450,000, to each of the 2,410 pilgrims from the state as a Sallah gift.
The Sokoto State Amirul Hajj, Alhaji Muhammad Maigari Dingyadi, announced the donation in Mina, Saudi Arabia.
Dingyadi said the gesture was aimed at supporting the pilgrims financially as they prepare for their return journey to Nigeria.

He expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the state’s pilgrims, noting that none was found violating Saudi Arabian laws during their stay in the Holy Land.
Dingyadi also thanked the state’s contingent for being good ambassadors of Sokoto State,and urged them to sustain the momentum.
He reassured the pilgrims of the present administration’s continued commitment to their welfare and that of the entire people of Sokoto State.
Dingyadi urged the pilgrims to intensify prayers for Governor Ahmed Aliyu’s administration to deliver more dividends of democracy to the people of the state.
In a statement by the Director General Media and Publicity, Government House, he further reminded them to pray fervently for an end to insecurity in Sokoto State and the nation at large.
