The newly appointed Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 13, Ukpo, Anambra State, Miller Dantawaye, has assumed office, promising intelligence-led policing, professionalism and stronger collaboration to improve security in Anambra and Enugu States.
He also pledged to build on the achievements of his predecessor by strengthening community policing, protecting human rights and fostering strategic partnerships to enhance public confidence in the police.
The newly appointed Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 13, Ukpo, Anambra State, Miller Gajere Dantawaye, has assumed office, promising intelligence-led policing, professionalism and stronger collaboration with stakeholders to improve security across Anambra and Enugu States.
He also pledged to build on the achievements of his predecessor while strengthening public confidence through community policing and strategic partnerships.
A statement by the Zone 13 Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Chidera Oha, said AIG Dantawaye officially took over as the 10th substantive Assistant Inspector-General of Police overseeing operations in the zone, succeeding AIG Godwin Iguh Eze, who retired after reaching the mandatory retirement age.
In his maiden address to officers and men at the Zonal Headquarters, Dantawaye expressed gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police for the confidence reposed in him.
“My administration will be anchored on professionalism, discipline, intelligence-driven policing, respect for human rights and effective collaboration with other security agencies and stakeholders,” he assured.
The new AIG urged officers under his command to remain disciplined, dedicated and committed to the core values of the Nigeria Police Force, stressing the need for quality service delivery and the protection of lives and property.
He also reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening public trust through community engagement and partnerships aimed at promoting lasting peace and security across the zone.
Dantawaye brings over two decades of policing experience to the role. He joined the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police on May 1, 2000, and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in International Studies.
Before his latest appointment, he served as Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Federal Operations at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
He previously served as Commissioner of Police in Kogi State, the Federal Capital Territory, and the Force Information Technology and ICT Department, among several other operational and administrative positions.
He has attended numerous professional and leadership courses within and outside Nigeria, including programmes at the National Defence College, the Police Staff College, Jos, and specialised security training in Israel and Gwoza.
The Zone 13 Police Command, which covers Anambra and Enugu States, reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining law and order, protecting lives and property, and deepening community partnerships in line with the strategic vision of the Inspector-General of Police.
