The Kwara State APC Reconciliation Committee has submitted its report to the party’s State Working Committee, following efforts to resolve internal disagreements arising from the party’s primary elections.
The five-member committee, chaired by retired Col. AbdulWahab Lawal, was constituted on July 3, 2026, to mediate disputes among aggrieved party members.
Presenting the report in Ilorin, Lawal thanked Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and the party leadership for their support and for creating an enabling environment for the committee to work.
He said the committee met with aggrieved members and allowed them to express their concerns, adding that the exercise helped advance the reconciliation process.
Lawal said the members also assured the committee that they would remain in the APC and “not go back to Egypt.”
He described the disagreements as a family affair, stressing that all members remained part of the same political family despite their differences.
“We made it clear to them that this is a family affair; no one is outside the family,” Lawal said.
The State APC Chairman, Prince Fagbemi, commended the committee for its efforts and pledged that the party leadership would carefully consider its recommendations.
Fagbemi described Lawal as a disciplined and experienced diplomat, while commending other members of the committee for their integrity.
He appealed to aggrieved members to remain patient while the party takes action based on the report.
Other members of the committee are Assistant Comptroller of Immigration, AIG Ahmed Abbas; Musa Yeketi; Oluwatoyin Opawoye; and Kubura Kassum.
Senior government officials, party leaders and elders attended the report presentation in Ilorin.
